A personal story:

On the eve of my first yoga teacher training in 2013 I was sitting in the kitchen with my then boyfriend, feeling sick with nerves. What am I doing, I said. I cant be a yoga teacher. I cant even ‘do’ yoga very well. I’m completely uncoordinated, I have zero qualitifications, I dont have a home, I dont have any money, I’m almost 30, my life is a mess. I’m so scared I’ll fail at this as well, and then that will be it.

He looked at me.

You’ll be fine. He said, ever nonchalant. Have another beer.

I didn’t think that would help but I drunk it anyway.

The next day I got up at 5am which was unheard of for me back in those days. The only 5 am I ever saw was on the way home from a party. I got on the train to St Peters. I had my yoga books under my arm. The only other people on the train were bleary eyed tradies in fluro vests drinking cans of Monster. I arrived at Dancing Warrior Yoga. My training had begun.

Over the course of the next few months I quickly realised a few things.

  • I mumbled and no one could hear me. I was constantly told to speak up.

  • I was terrible at arm balancing, handstands, planks, anything involving arm strength.

  • I couldn’t learn sequences

  • I had problems with left and right

BUT

  • I had a natural aptitude for yoga philosophy

  • I remembered I loved to write

  • I realised that with enough practice I could do anything

  • I started to believe in myself for the first time since I was a little girl

During that training I turned 30. We went to the local cafe and my teacher Matt bought me lunch. You’re so young. Everyone said.  I didn’t feel it. 30 felt so old. Surely at 30 I’m supposed to feel like an adult. Surely I’m meant to have a house, or at least a car, or savings or kids? All I had was a tattered backpack and some falling apart clothes and a string of unsuitable relationships.

A huge part of the training was learning to teach, which meant mock classes, getting up in front of the group and leading a sequence. Somehow I hadn’t quite realised that teaching yoga meant speaking in front of people. I would get so nervous my voice would crack and my hands would shake so much I couldn’t hold my notes.

It’s easy to look at someone teaching and think they were born like that. I’ve been teaching for 10 years and not just teaching a little bit. I threw myself into teaching yoga with everything I had. I was desperate, but more than that I was on fire. Something had been ignited within me that would never go out. I soaked up every mystical word. Even though in many ways teaching was the hardest thing I’d ever done, and I was objectively terrible at it, I kept going. I got really lucky. I’ve had brilliant teachers and brilliant mentors who tell me how it is and dont let me get away with blaming others for my problems, or running away when it gets challenging.

My greatest teacher has been my own inner strength. I never would have considered myself a strong person. Definitely not a leader. I thought I was the opposite. Fade into the background, go with the flow, never rock the boat.

In my most outlandish dreams I never could have imagined I’d be here. Its 2025. I’m at the helm of a successful yoga studio, 7 years in. Thriving in business against all odds. Doing it my way. Never writing a business plan. Never writing a budget. No formal education. Just a whole lot of passion, determination and old fashioned hard work. When I first started soul tribe we had 3 regular students. Now the newsletter is read by over 4000 people. When I first started the whole building was empty. A ghost town. I was sleeping in my van in the carpark. Between classes I’d basically beg people to come in and drop thousands of flyers that probably never got read all over town. Many people told me to give up. They told me it wouldn’t work.  They told me that so many people had tried and failed to run businesses in the Bay. Especially yoga businesses. It’s not going to happen they said.

I didn’t believe them. And anyway I had nothing to lose. I’d packed up my life and started again so many times I wasn’t afraid. The skills I learnt in that first yoga training course taught me how to trust my intuition. Yoga gave me the courage to say yes, and no, at the right times. Which is really all life is. a series of choices. Yes or no.

If you’re feeling called to step up and really embody the qualities you want to receive, peace, joy, abundance, success, love, play, isn’t it time you said yes?

I’ve been designing and leading exceptional teacher trainings for over 8 years now. That’s hundreds of students who overcame self doubt, self sabotage and stories of lack to live the life they always dreamed of. Many of them are teaching yoga and in love with it. Some have opened their own studios. Some are teaching in a quiet way, simply by living their lives with more awareness. Whatever the reason, yoga teacher training is the gateway to inner peace. It’s all within you.

Weekend Training Dates:

  • August: 9th–10th, 23rd–24th

  • September: 6th–7th, 20th–21st

  • October: 4th–5th, 18th–19th

  • November: 1st–2nd, 15th–16th

  • Final Retreat: 28th–30th November

Yoga Teacher Training isn’t only about teaching yoga. Yes you learn how to be an exceptional yoga teacher, but it’s so much more than that. The teaching skills you learn are transferrable to EVERYTHING ELSE YOU DO.

Learn

  • How to use your voice authentically and clearly

  • How to overcome shyness and self doubt (if I can do it, as the shyest person on the planet, so can you)

  • How to access a powerhouse of energy within you using the ancient techniques and technology of yoga

  • How to apply ancient yoga philosophy to your modern life and use these teachings to live a fulfilled life that benefits others as much as you

  • How to follow your passions without fear

  • How to tap into your unique purpose

  • How to live each day with peace and gratitude

  • How to access your inner confidence and move past limiting beliefs.

I completed my first YTT in 2014, age 30. At the time I had very little money, no savings, no qualifications, no degree, no trade. I was waitressing and bartending and was generally very lost. I had extremely low self confidence and was very shy. I spoke so softly , no one could ever hear what I was saying. I felt extremely awkward in most situations.

Fast forward 11 years. I own and teach at a thriving yoga studio going from strength to strength, coming into my 7th year of studio ownership and 11th year of running my own business teaching yoga. I make all my income from teaching and the studio. I’ve never had another job on the side. There can never be enough yoga teachers. This knowledge and ability to guide people to regulate their own nervous systems and learn how to love themselves is SO NEEDED EVERYWHERE. Whether or not you decide to teach yoga classes, you will automatically teach everyone around you, just through your way of being.

In August I'm facilitating a four month deep dive into Yoga, a transformational Yoga Teacher Training that will change everything. I've been running this training yearly at the studio since 2018 and each year the course becomes more embodied, more potent, richer and deeper.

If 2025 is the year you say YES to your passion and love for Yoga in all its myriad forms, this training is for you.

I dont usually throw statements like this around but I truly believe everyone should do a yoga teacher training with a teacher who resonates with you.

  • It doesn’t matter if you dont want to teach yoga in a class setting.

  • It doesn’t matter if you cant hold handstand or bend yourself into a million positions.

  • It doesn’t matter if you dont think you’re calm, spiritual, flexible, young, old, ‘good’ enough.

  • A yoga teacher training is a training for life. You learn how to take responsibility for your life.

  • You learn how to forgive yourself and others so you can free up all the valuable energy you’re wasting on holding grudges.

  • You learn how to face life’s challenges with grace, strength, courage and a sense of humour.

  • You learn that your mind doesn’t have to control you.

  • You learn that your thoughts aren’t true.

  • You learn how to regulate your own nervous system.

  • You learn how to deal with conflict in your relationships.

  • You learn how to not take everything so personally.

  • You learn how to stop blaming others, the government, capitalism, the system for the way you feel.

  • You learn that only you are the master of your own feelings.

  • You learn all of this through the rich, supportive lens of yogic philosophy taught in a way that is relevant to your life now.

  • You grow within a supportive group of people who have your back, no matter what.

  • You grow with one on one mentoring support.

  • We can do hard things, gently.  Yoga gives us the strength to do them.

Love Clare Meet Your Lead Teacher: Clare Lovelace

At my core, I believe in love—that we are all naturally compassionate, kind, and deeply connected. My purpose is to hold space for you to rediscover your magic, trust in yourself, and move through life with joy and authenticity.

My journey with yoga began when I was searching for something more—a deeper connection, a sense of belonging. Through movement, breath, and meditation, I found my way home.

Since completing my first 200-hour training in 2014 with Mathew Bergan (Dancing Warrior Yoga, Sydney), I’ve devoted my life to teaching. I’ve studied with masters like Sarah Powers and taught at renowned studios across Sydney, as well as for UNICEF and ABC Broadcasting.

In 2018, I founded Soul Tribe Studio, where I’ve been leading teacher trainings, retreats, and classes ever since.

I know firsthand how this practice can change everything—not just the way you move, but the way you see yourself and the world.

I can’t wait to walk this path with you. 💛

FAQ’s

💭 I can’t do advanced poses—does that matter?
Not at all! Yoga is about how you live, not what you can do physically. Over four months, you’ll find more strength, space, and confidence in body, mind, and heart.

💭 I don’t want to teach—will I still benefit?
Absolutely. Many students join for personal growth, not to teach. This training will enrich everything in your life, helping you live in alignment with your truest self.

YES! From week one, you’ll gain hands-on teaching experience. Many of our graduates now teach at Soul Tribe and beyond!

💭 What if I can’t make all the weekends?
Live-streaming and recorded sessions are available, plus catch-up options. You’ll also have lifetime access to our online learning platform.
