What if there was nothing to prove?
What if there was nothing to prove?
On my alter are the hand-painted words. ‘I do not have to prove my worth.’ Months ago I sent a picture to my friend Emmie who inspired me to remember this message errrryday. Ironically the very next message said ‘I’m going to paint them better, this is just for now’.
LOL.
The groove runs deep.
So January comes along. Shouting about resolutions, 40 day challenges and NEW YEAR NEW ME! Maybe this works for some people, but for anyone who feels this inherent need to prove, it’s a disaster. Trying to force yourself into routines from a place of lack is a sure-fire way to make yourself feel guilty for not sticking to them.
I believe there’s another way.
This month I invite you to listen deeply to your body’s wisdom. I invite you to rest.
I’ve been sleeping way more than usual. I even slept through my alarm a couple of days ago for the first time in years. Luckily I was getting a ride in that day otherwise y’all would have been standing outside the studio at 6am wondering ‘where the F is Clare’.
2020 was a BIG YEAR, however you want to spin it. No wonder we need to rest! And if you’re reading this thinking, I feel more energised than ever, THAT’S AWESOME TOO! But please don’t put pressure on yourself to have it all figured out. Forget planning out the year. Instead ask what this moment has to offer. How can you bring more joy into your life right now?
For me January’s joy is:
Lying on the rain drenched grass, gazing at the patchwork clouds
Stormy swims under purple skies
Pressing my hands into the trees, feeling the sap flow as my blood flows in my veins.
Dancing around the studio without any guilt about the work I ‘should’ be doing (anything that is a should is a NO!)
Un-planned mornings spent cleaning, decluttering and clearing every single space in my house with the knowledge that the ‘stuff’ I own represents the emotional baggage I’m subconsciously clinging to.
Cooking. Eating with friends rather than eating alone, knowing I can be my little hermit self and still LOVE to be with other people! YAY!
Riding my bike really fast through puddles in the rain.
Where do you find your joy? I’d love to hear...
This month I invite you to take such special care of yourself. Listen to the whispers of your heart. Realise deeply that you are enough. You have enough. You do enough. Attend to what you intend. Attend to your body, your home, your garden. That includes the garden of your mind. Remember what lights you up. What brings you joy. I promise, when you really follow that light, nothing can hold you back. I love you.
