Māntra & Nidrā
with Deepika
Date: Saturday 31st August
Time: 6.15pm-8.15pm
A unique offering invoking the powerful energy of the setting sun then inviting the body, mind and spirit into a space of clarity and awareness through guided relaxation.
As the sun sets on the eve of Winter’s last day, we will gather and chant 108 rounds of the Sāvitrī Gāyatrī Mantra. Once our chanting comes to an end, in the warm glow of candle light, Deepika will guide you through a deeply relaxing Yoga Nidra (Yogic Sleep) practice.
‘By bringing these two exquisite practices together, it is my intention to first create space for you to experience the beautiful vibrations of mantra within your own being, then gently guide you into the soft yet vibrant state of yogic sleep’
--- Deepika
No prior experience necessary- we are all learning and feeling into this together!
About the Sāvitrī Gāyatrī mantra
The Gāyatrī mantra to Sāvitrī, an important form of the Sun deity, is the most important of all Vedic mantras and one of the most commonly used mantras in yoga practices. The Sāvitrī Gāyatrī mantra is an important tool for drawing in the spiritual energy of the Sun into our minds, hearts and bodies, serving like a solar panel for the inner worlds.
About Yoga Nidrā
During the course of Yoga Nidrā, you learn to surf between the states of wakefulness and sleep, where your body finds its natural state of equilibrium (homeostasis) and the breath balances and becomes quiet. Practicing Yoga Nidrā can improve sleep and memory, reduce stress and anxiety. The goal is for the body to be completely relaxed while the mind is awake and focused inward.
