Join Clare for a fun, supportive and informative 2.5 hour workshop, exploring the foundations of alignment for safe, expansive, joyful backbending.
Spinal extension of any range is an essential regular movement for a healthy, fluid spine. We tend to take the opposite movement in everyday modern life (looking at phones, driving, typing etc) which can cause our spine to slump forward, inhibiting full range of movement. This ‘slump’ can restrict our diaphragm, making it harder to receive full breaths as well as having a negative impact on our energy levels.
When we draw our shoulders back and open our chests (and energetically hearts), its a big saying YES to love, saying YES to happiness, saying YES to life.
Backbends can look intimidating. If you’re thinking, ‘I could never do that’ then this workshop is for you.
We will break down the challenging postures of ‘Full Wheel’ and ‘Camel’, learn techniques to make the poses accessible and even work towards deeper variations and drop backs.
Re-balancing the spine through focused, safe and effective movement in the opposite direction (spinal extension) can cultivate feelings of joy, love, compassion and forgiveness as well as helping to bring your spine and your life back into balance.
Workshop includes
* Strengthening and mobilising exercises focused on hip flexors, shoulders, wrists, core and spine.
* Creative modifications for each preparatory posture using a wide range of props.
* Variations and alternatives of Full Wheel, Camel and drop backs to suit all levels.
* Home practice info pack so you can implement these movements into your daily life.
* This workshop is open to all, however I recommend having at least 3 months regular yoga asana experience to get the most out of this workshop.
